WARP provides cohesive and professional traffic control for construction sites and areas where road users, workers and pedestrians may be disrupted. It is integral to keep traffic flowing efficiently and safely. Implementing traffic control around worksites and events is an important part of ensuring that risks to worker’s and pedestrian’s health and safety are kept to a minimum.
We help manage risks that may arise from traffic movements at workplaces and help educate workers, vehicle operators, pedestrian and many other groups of people that are within or around the worksite.
In order to prepare a thorough traffic management plan, we investigate the types and traffic volume and density of local public roads, as well as the types of vehicles, proposed delivery times and loading requirements, on and off the worksite. Vehicles including powered mobile plant moving in and around a workplace, reversing, loading and unloading are often linked with death and injuries to workers and members of the public.
Our traffic control management includes cars, trucks and powered mobile plants like forklifts and pedestrians such as workers and visitors.
In our view, the best way to protect pedestrians is to understand, assess and eliminate traffic hazards whenever possible. In many cases, this can be achieved in the design process when preparing the construction site layout to eliminate interactions between pedestrians and vehicles.
Examples include prohibiting vehicles from being used in pedestrian spaces, helping identify loading times and unloading times or providing separate traffic routes so pedestrians or construction workers cannot enter areas where vehicles are used.
In short, we design our traffic control plans to:
- Keep pedestrians and vehicles apart
- Keep constructions workers and vehicles apart, loading, unloading, entering and exiting the workplace
- Ensure traffic controllers use the appropriate traffic signs and equipment
- Ensure vehicles and people are highly visible to each other, by both sound and/or colour
- Minimise vehicle movements whilst worker are on site
- Eliminate reversing vehicles
